The Agriculture Department and FFA club at SLOHS changed the trajectory of Bryson's life.  His passions, education, and life goals would not be what they are today without the Ag program and the support of Aggie Backers.

My son Bryson's first experience with agriculture was in Ag Bio class during his Freshman year at SLOHS. Until then he hadn't been interested in Ag, cattle ranching, raising cows, Ag engineering, riding horses, or rodeo. He first started learning about cattle ranching from a local rancher while completing his Ag Bio SAE project. He also rode a horse, basically for the first time, all day while they worked the cattle and ranch. Less than 2 years later, he was hired by that rancher and worked as a ranch hand on two different ranches for the next two years. He started riding horses most days at work and then learned to rope during brandings. After attending a FFA meeting, Bryson decided to raise a heifer for the Mid State Fair. Over the next 3 years he raised 3 heifers and one steer. He took all Ag science classes including Ag Systems Management during his junior year and loved the combination of engineering and agriculture. Bryson is now a third year Ag Systems Management major at Cal Poly and starting his second year on the Cal Poly Rodeo team in team roping.  The Agriculture Department and FFA club at SLOHS changed the trajectory of Bryson's life.  His passions, education, and life goals would not be what they are today without the Ag program and the support of Aggie Backers.      Nikki J.

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Aggie Backers, many students are able to attend life-changing events like public speaking contests and leadership conferences, including State Leadership Conference in Sacramento and even National Convention in Indianapolis. The money they raise, along with the support they provide, is crucial for enhancing the opportunities available to students. Aggie Backers is an amazing group of people dedicating their time to help our Ag Department flourish. I'm forever grateful for their hard work behind the scenes that helped me make the best memories of my life!                     Siena Boscaro, Graduate and SLO FFA President, 2024
