Horticulture
Students in our Horticulture pathway explore both the science of plant growth and the art of creating stunning floral arrangements. They study plant care, soil composition, and greenhouse management, while also mastering techniques in floral design, including bouquet crafting, arrangement principles, and color coordination. The class combines hands-on projects with creative expression. This course equips students for diverse careers in both horticulture and floral industries.
Ornamental Horticulture

OH is the introductory course in our Floral Design Pathway! In a one-trimester class, students learn about different career opportunities and become familiar with different tools and plants. Students will get assigned a planter to beautify and will grow their plants starting as seeds. Working in the greenhouse is a daily activity where we get to work outside in nature! They will also be exposed to introductory elements of floral design.

Floral Design fulfills a year of Visual/Performing Arts credit, and is full of hands-on fun! Students learn about the business side of the industry and the artistry. Students will complete basic arrangements, learn to identify common flowers, and plan major events such as weddings. Students will also assist with projects for any large events for our school such as prom, Homecoming, awards banquets, seasonal events and produce arrangements for local businesses. Creativity and collaboration are a focus for each project and students will bring home several of them!
