San Luis Obispo High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization is excited to welcome Ms. Megan Snodgrass as our new student teacher for the school year! With her incredible enthusiasm, practical experience, and a strong foundation in agriculture, both within and outside the National FFA Organization, Ms. Snodgrass is sure to be a valuable addition to our classroom and students, helping us accelerate ahead into an amazing 2025.
An Introduction
Ms. Snodgrass is currently finishing her master's degree at Cal Poly and is so excited to join our SLO FFA program! Before embarking on her journey in education, Ms. Snodgrass was an active member in the FFA, honing her leadership skills and deepening her passion for agriculture.
A Passion For Agriculture
Ms. Snodgrass didn’t get actively involved until high school. When she enrolled in Agricultural Biology at Red Bluff high school (in Northern California) in her freshman year, she became immersed in the FFA program as she signed up to participate in as many events as possible to immerse herself in the program. Her favorite subjects were Introductory and Advanced Floral Design, which helped guide her to major in Agricultural Science at Cal Poly, SLO.
Leadership and Involvement
As a chapter officer for Red Bluff high school, Ms. Snodgrass also competed in land judging, job interview, prepared public speaking, opening and closing ceremonies impromptu speaking, best informed greenhand, and extemporaneous public speaking contests. Now that's a lot of hard work and a busy schedule!
Building Connections
But it was the meaningful relationships she made with other members in the FFA that made this time worthwhile. Being part of an officer team allowed Ms. Snodgrass to form lifelong friendships and create countless cherished memories with her teammates. One of her most impactful experiences was serving as a Greenhand Officer. Helping younger members navigate their first years in the FFA brought Ms. Snodgrass fulfillment in guiding new members through their first steps in the program, pushing her to pursue agricultural education in the future.
Fostering a Love for Agriculture
We are so thrilled to have Ms. Snodgrass with us and look forward to seeing the positive impacts she’ll make throughout this school year. Ms. Snodgrass is passionate about the value of hands-on learning, hard work, and community—values she brings with her to San Luis Obispo High School. As she continues on her path to becoming a certified teacher, she is eager to inspire students to develop a love for agriculture and explore careers in the field.
