Spring 2018 “Calling Ms. Colombini”

Written by: Sophomore Riley O’Connor

Coming from Linden, California, Ms. Jana Colombini is the newest addition to our chapter this winter. Raised on a 200 acre walnut farm, she comes from a heavy agricultural background. She was an active member of the Lindon FFA chapter and participated in Impromptu speaking and raising pigs for the fair. Her junior year she was Chapter Reporter followed by being Chapter President her senior year. Her SAE Project, as well as raising animals, was managing the Greenhouse for her school. Along with participating in FFA, Ms. Colombini was a member of ASB and the volleyball, basketball, and soccer teams throughout her high school career.

Jana served as Cal Poly’s ASI President

Jana graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Agricultural Business. As a third generation Cal Poly student, she followed in her Dad and Grandpa’s footsteps. Just like in high school, Ms Colombini was an active member in student leadership throughout her years in college. Her sophomore year she an Ag Ambassador, as well as being a member of the Crops Club, Dairy Club, and a sorority. She kept herself the busiest during her senior year by leading the ASI organization as their president. When asked about her favorite part of Cal Poly, Ms.C said, the “ Learn by Doing” aspect of their teaching.

Ms. Colombini is excited to be a part of our FFA family and with helping out with all of our CDE teams and speaking events. She is excited to help coach our Ag Sales team and to help with all leadership development events. She has already started to teach our Ornamental Horticulture class and has integrated into co-teaching several Ag Biology classes. We have no doubt that Jana will jump right in to our action packed spring of 2018 agricultural education program and the SLOHS Tiger Family.
